The start of this race was delayed due to RACING SOCKS losing its left front shoe en route to the start. The shoe was found and this gelding was attended to by the Course Farrier. MAGICALAD and SAMIDEE were slow into stride. ARABIAN TRIP faltered shortly after the start. In view of the performance of ARABIAN TRIP, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. When questioned regarding his riding of ARABIAN TRIP, Jockey Strydom said that as this colt had been drawn wide, he had been content to place ARABIAN TRIP in a rearward position as he was not confined to instructions by Trainer Alexander. He said that the colt had faltered shortly after the start and he had kept his position at the rear of the field, upon entering the straight, the colt had felt flat and was not making up ground on the field despite his urgings. His explanation was noted. The Stewards have adjourned to review the patrol films of this colts race. Trainer Alexander confirmed these instructions and was advised to report on this colts condition on its return to the stables. GANICUS had to steady at the 350m, off the heels of MAGNALOUSHE, which rolled out suddenly away from KINGKOVSKY which rolled out. MASTER DUKE was hanging out on the bend and raced green in the straight. RACING SOCKS and AGILE COMBAT were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. MASTER DUKE is a gelding. Vet: ARABIAN TRIP - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. FLYING TERN - lame left front. ARABIAN WORLD - overreach left front. CAPTAINOFMYHEART - lame left front.
