SHAKALAND broke through the front of the stalls, was immediately restrained, returned to behind the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. DIE KAT (AUS) lost three lengths. Assistant Trainer Azzie was advised to re-school this gelding prior to its next engagement (BN). SILLY MID-ON lost one length. OLYMPIC BOLT (BRZ), which was ridden forward, was buffeted between KLONDIKE CREEK, which rolled out slightly, and NAD'S PRIDE, which was hanging in throughout, at the 1600m and shifted in slightly when it received some pressure from WALL 'N ALL, which shifted in from a wide draw and had just about obtained the necessary clearance in front of NAD'S PRIDE. The Stewards after interviewing the riders of the horses involved in this incident ruled that this was a racing incident and took no further action. DIE KAT (AUS) was hanging in, in the closing stages. Jockey Strydom reported that KLONDIKE CREEK did not act on the sand surface. Trainer Ferreira will be advised of this report and that he needs to give serious consideration if this report should preclude this gelding from racing on the sand surface. Apprentice Munger, the rider of MIRAK, appeared before the Board and was advised to ride with sufficient vigour and purpose so as to leave no room for query from the Stewards. OLYMPIC BOLT (BRZ) and SHAKALAND were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. WALL 'N ALL raced equipped with cheek pieces. Vet: THE WHO - post race distress. Scratched: RAGING TORRENT - changed stables. WARBASH - kicked at the start.
