LANE FROST and WESTERN WU jumped awkwardly, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. ROYAL KNOCKOUT was slow into stride. ROYAL KNOCKOUT was pulling very hard in the early stages, raced with its head in the air, was eased off the heels of GRAPE VINE and raced wide in the early part of the bend. SHEPHERDS PURSE, which was hanging out, shifted outwards in the latter stages of the race, carrying REBEL HOUSE and CASTLE outwards. Apprentice Goomany, the rider of SHEPHERDS PURSE, appeared before the Board and was advised to take the necessary measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in future. REBEL HOUSE was forced to check approaching the 1100m, off the heels of VALERIN, which shifted inwards when insufficiently clear. TOMBA LA BOMBA, which was following was eased momentarily. Jockey Orffer, the rider of VALERIN, was charged with a contravention, in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to other runners when he shifted inwards at about the 1100m. Jockey Orffer signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days. TOMBA LA BOMBA was hanging in in the latter stages and had to be straightened shortly before the finish. PLAYINGTHEENEMY (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
