STARLIGHT BEAUTY was slow, losing four lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. IN LIMINE was restless in the stalls. The buckle on the right side stirrup leather came undone, and the stirrup iron was dislodged on COUNTING ANGELS at the 2200m, which resulted in Jockey Domeyer being unable to assist his mount thereafter, and the filly was eased out of the race. SAINT SOPHIA and GALLICA ROSE made contact approaching the 150m. Shortly thereafter SAINT SOPHIA and GALLICA ROSE made contact on a number of occasions with SAINT SOPHIA being bumped outwards some three horse widths. Approaching the 50m both horses were straightened and once again came together making contact, and GALLICA ROSE was turned slightly. Thereafter both horses raced tightly to the finish. Jockey van Niekerk, the rider of SAINT SOPHIA, lodged an objection on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. The Board, after reviewing the patrol films, giving regard to the evidence heard, and the distance between the two horses, was of the opinion that but for the interference SAINT SOPHIA would have finished ahead of GALLICA ROSE and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the Judges' result. GALLICA ROSE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. VARSTER raced fitted with a three-quarter shoe on the left fore. Vet: STARLIGHT BEAUTY - returned choked up and making an abnormal respiratory noise. DYNASTY'S PRIDE - returned coughing. Scratched: SHINGWEDZI - insufficient recovery time.
