NORMANZ broke through the front gate and broke its breastplate, which had to be replaced, causing a delay. NORMANZ became restless as the start was affected, losing four lengths. Trainer Laird will be advised that this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn. CASTLETHORPE (AUS) was slow, losing two lengths. NORMANZ broke through the front gate and was pulled up after about 50m, returned to the start and the breastplate was replaced. Jockey Strydom reported that COPPER PARADE took no interest in running. Jockey Fayd'Herbe reported that FLY BY NIGHT did not stride out freely in running. In view of the performance from DRESSED IN COTTON, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding and submit a report. The Board reviewed the start regarding NORMANZ in starting stall gate five, which became restless as the start was effected. After reviewing the patrol films the Board was of the opinion that the gelding had not been impeded and was deemed to be a runner. CAPTAIN OF ALL and ALBOREN SEA (AUS) were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: COPPER PARADE and FLY BY NIGHT - inspected post race and no significant findings were detected. DRESSED IN COTTON - returned with a nasal discharge, and coughed.
