ARCH RIVAL and ROCKY STALLONE were slow. ROCCO'S LUCK (AUS) stumbled shortly after the start. MAI THAIGA was unbalanced approaching the 1200m when it clipped the heels of GO GOLD. ROCKY STALLONE was baulked for a clear run in the home straight until the 250m and thereafter, in the closing stages, ROCKY STALLONE lost position when it was checked between the heels of LAVA FLOW, which was switched out slightly to continue its run, and AMERICAN STORM, which was hanging in and shifted in. Jockey David, the rider of LAVA FLOW, appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film of the race and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear of other runners before shifting ground in future. Jockey Lerena, the rider of AMERICAN STORM, appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film of the race and advised to take stronger corrective measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in future. Jockey Strydom reported that he was unable to ride RUSHMORE RIVER to the finish as he was awkwardly placed between the heels of LEEULOOP JET and GO GOLD shortly before the finish. Jockey Strydom reported that RUSHMORE RIVER made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. LAVA FLOW was baulked for a clear run in the closing stages. Jockey Lerena reported that AMERICAN STORM made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. Jockey Brown reported that ROCCO'S LUCK (AUS) choked up in running. ARCH RIVAL was baulked for a clear run for a number of strides at the 150m and Apprentice C Storey reported that this gelding returned distressed. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine ARCH RIVAL. GOLD BANK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ROCCO'S LUCK (AUS) raced equipped with cheek pieces. Vet: AMERICAN STORM - respiratory distress; abnormal respiratory noise. ROCCO'S LUCK (AUS) - abnormal respiratory noise. RUSHMORE RIVER - no respiratory noise detected post race. ARCH RIVAL - post race distress. Scratched: ORCHESTRATED - insufficient recovery time.
