LE SPINNAKER was slow, losing two lengths. PALINODE was restless in the stalls and slow, losing one length. Jockey Wright reported that FUNKY MUNKY took no interest in running. In view of the performance from PALINODE, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding and submit a report. Jockey van Niekerk was charged with a contravention, read with Guideline C, Appendix L, in that he misused his crop by hitting STORM FAERIE more than three times on consecutive strides. Jockey van Niekerk signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. TYGERHOOGTE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: PALINODE and FUNKY MUNKY - inspected post race and no significant findings were detected. Scratched: ROMAN SILVANUS - under medication. THE QUEENS COLOURS - lame near front knee. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure.
