PRINCE OF MAGIC was slow into stride. BURRWOOD lost one length. SCRUM HALF was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. In view of the performance of GLOBAL TALK, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. GLOBAL TALK and CHESHIRE CAT raced wide in the early stages. STAMPEDE returned post race having cast the right hind shoe. FIRE THE ROCKET, who was hanging in, in the straight, shifted in slightly at approximately the 150 metre mark. Simultaneously SCRUM HALF shifted out slightly, resulting in these two horses brushing on two occasions. Thereafter at approximately the 50 metre mark SCRUM HALF ducked outwards, making contact with and carrying FIRE THE ROCKET outwards. A race review was called by a Stipendiary Steward into this incident which was followed by an objection lodged by Jockey Dillon, the rider of the second placed horse, FIRE THE ROCKET, against the winner, SCRUM HALF, on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. After considering the evidence, viewing the patrol videos from the various angles, considering the Judge's distance of 0.25 lengths between these two horses and where this incident occurred in the Race, the Board were of the opinion that but for the interference, FIRE THE ROCKET would not have beaten SCRUM HALF and therefore overruled the objection. Jockey Dillon's deposit was refunded. Vet: STAMPEDE - abnormal respiratory noise and cut into right hind. GLOBAL TALK - not striding out right hind. Scratched: BELLICOSITY - sold without engagement.
