The start of this Race was delayed and subsequently rescheduled to start at 15h32 due to the close proximity of an electrical storm. KOPI LUWAK stumbled at the start. OBREGA was badly unbalanced when it stumbled severely at the start. Apprentice Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with this filly in running. JUMBO was hanging in badly in the home straight and was difficult to assist. In view of this the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Brown reported that the saddle on JUMBO slipped sideways in running. CELTIC KING was awkwardly placed in restricted galloping room between the 400m and the 200m on the inside of KING'S WILD, which was hanging in, in the straight. Jockey Lerena reported that KING'S WILD coughed in running. Jockey Zechner reported that SONG JET made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. KOPI LUWAK switched out to continue its run approaching the 200m. ERMINE STREET was hanging in, in the closing stages. ERMINE STREET was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When questioned regarding the improved performance of ERMINE STREET, Trainer Stenger told the Stewards that this gelding had raced on Saturday 21 February 2015 at Turffontein racecourse and it had been reported that ERMINE STREET had been hanging in from the 400m. In her opinion, this gelding performs better on the sand surface and that today's race was of a weaker calibre than Saturday's Graduation Plate. The Stewards noted Trainer Stenger's explanation and advised her of the Rules pertaining to Inconsistent Form and that the future performances of ERMINE STREET will be monitored. Vet: OBREGA - coughing; abnormal respiratory noise. JUMBO - examined post race, no significant findings. KING'S WILD - coughing; overreach right front. SONG JET - abnormal respiratory noise.
