This Race was run in rainy and windy conditions. BARACAH lost 3 lengths. Trainer Tarry was advised to re-school this gelding prior to its next engagement. GUY FROM DUBAI reared in the stalls shortly before the start was effected and was restrained by the handler allocated to this gelding. This led to GUY FROM DUBAI losing ground to the field. The Board ruled that GUY FROM DUBAI had reared before the gates opened and had been restrained by the handler and therefore declared it a non-runner. In view of the performance from S'IL VOUS PLAIT, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Byleveld reported that he felt something amiss with QATAR SPRINGS in running. Assistant Trainer de Kock Trainer will be requested to report back on the condition of AKII BUA (AUS) on its return to the stables. COOL CHARDONNAY and HENRY HIGGINS were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: S'IL VOUS PLAIT - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. QATAR SRPINGS - not striding out left front. GUY FROM DUBAI - declared a non runner. The start of Race 10 was delayed due to the close proximity of an electrical storm. Once it had been decided that it was safe to send the horses and riders out, there were further lightning strikes in close proximity to the racecourse and the field were instructed to return to the saddling enclosure. After favourable readings from the lightning detector it was decided once again to send the horses and riders out to the parade ring. Shortly after this decision was made there were further lightning strikes and it was decided, that due to concerns regarding the safety of horses and riders, to abandon Race 10. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure. Several Jockeys were selected for breathalyser tests and the taking of urine samples for analysis.
