The start of this race was delayed due to the late scratching of CLOUD RUNNER and to allow the betting public to restructure their bets. Jockey Khumalo reported that WOLF'S GIRL did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon reported was requested to examine this mare, who reported that WOLF'S GIRL had cast its right front shoe in running. Jockey Maleking reported that JET FOR JOY made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. In view of the performance from DIAMOND TIGER, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Apprentice van Staden reported that he felt something amiss with PRETTY LADY in running. VESTAL VIRGIN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Apprentice Munger has now ridden sixty winners and from the completion of this meeting will no longer be eligible to claim an allowance. Assistant Trainer Miller was questioned regarding the improved performance of VESTAL VIRGIN. She explained to the Board that, in her opinion, this mare is better suited to today's distance of 1600m and that she was better off at the weights. This explanation was noted. RAINBOW ARROW raced in the Colours of Mr L J Human: Light Green, Orange and Black Striped Sleeves and Cap. MISS ESMERALDA raced in Club Colours with the Stewards permission. Vet: JET FOR JOY - abnormal respiratory noise. DIAMOND TIGER - not striding out left front. PRETTY LADY - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: CLOUD RUNNER - not striding out both front.
