MIESQUE'S STORM was stubborn loading. The Starting Stall Certificate for this filly has been withdrawn until recertified tractable. PRINCESS MAGGIE lost two lengths. SHAKE THE EMPEROR was slow into stride. At the 400m MIESQUE'S STORM was awkwardly placed for a number of strides close to the heels of CARELESS WHISPER, which showed a tendency to hang out. At the 300m MIESQUE'S STORM had to check severely to avoid the heels of CARELESS WHISPER, which was hanging out and shifted outwards slightly when it received some pressure from CARINO, which shifted out when it attempted to improve on the outside of SILENT TREATMENT which shifted out slightly away from the crop and was immediately straightened. At the 250m CARELESS WHISPER had to check severely to avoid the heels of CARINO, which commenced to hang outwards and was immediately straightened. The Stewards could not comfortably apportion blame to any rider and treated this as a racing incident and no further action was taken, however, Jockey's Zechner, Sturgeon and van Rensburg appeared before the Board and were advised to exercise more care in future in similar circumstances. Jockey Geroudis reported that CASCADIA did not stride out freely in running. Apprentice Marwing reported that PRINCESS MAGGIE did not stride out freely in running. In view of the performance of CARELESS WHISPER, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. OFF THE MARK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: CASCADIA - not striding out left hind. CARELESS WHISPER - cut into left hind. WEST RIDGE - blowing heavily post race. PRINCESS MAGGIE - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: PRETTY SPECIAL - not striding out left front.
