JOY OF HOPE and EDEN ON THE BAY were slow away, lost 2 lengths. JOY OF HOPE threw her head up at the start and struck Jockey Zechner in the face causing this filly to lose considerable ground at the start. The saddle slipped back onto the hindquarters shortly after the start and Jockey Cheyne was unable to control DANCING INTHE SNOW and eased her out of the race at the 500 metre mark. The saddle on CHAMPAGNE SHOWERS slipped back slightly leaving the stalls. Jockey Yeni reported that JACARANDA FLOWER was hanging in and was not striding out freely in the running. Jockey Ndlovu reported that MOOIMEISIESFONTEIN was not striding out freely in the running. Jockey Vlooh reported that PARTY FAVOUR was hanging in over the final 300 metres and he felt something amiss with this filly. JACARANDA FLOWER shifted inwards in the home straight and carried CHEEKY QUESTION inwards simultaneously CHEEKY QUESTION shifted inwards independently over the final 300 metres, which resulted in PRICY ASSET being carried in and forced to ease off the heels of CHEEKY QUESTION. A race review was called into the incident and no further action was taken. Jockey Funeka signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to PRICY ASSET in the closing stages whilst riding CHEEKY QUESTION. Further, an inquiry will be held into the riding of JACARANDA FLOWER by Jockey Yeni. CHEEKY QUESTION was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: MOOIMEISIESFONTEIN, PRICY ASSET and THORN PRICK - abnormal respiratory noise. JACARANDA FLOWER - coughed post race, short in front, uneven behind. BERGFRUE - blood in mouth. PARTY FAVOUR - short in front. Scratched: ECO SPIRIT - lame left fore.
