The start of this Race was delayed due to the farrier having to refit the left fore shoe of GARIBONDY at the start. GARIBONDY and WHISTLING WONDER were slow into stride. GARIBONDY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. WAR PATH shifted in at approximately the 700 metre mark resulting in LITTLEBLACKNUMBER having to be eased for a number of strides. This resulted in GERMAN LADY (AUS), racing behind LITTLEBLACKNUMBER, having to be steadied momentarily approaching the 600 metre mark. Jockey de Melo reported that WHISTLING WONDER choked up in running and as a result did not persevere with his ride in the latter stages. Apprentice Barnes signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention in that, as the rider of WAR PATH, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to LITTLEBLACKNUMBER at approximately the 700 metre mark. He was suspended for a period of 7 days. Vet: WHISTLING WONDER - nothing obvious detected. LITTLEBLACKNUMBER - cut into left hind. Scratched: FLYING LOOT (AUS) - not eating up.
