A TIME TO REMEMBER (W Kennedy) was restless in the stalls. LORD CARO (*J Gates) lost 1 length. In the concluding stages, LORD CARO (*J Gates) had to check when awkwardly placed on the inside of SUGAR AND SPICE (E Ngwane) which shifted in away from the crop from the 100m. Jockey E Ngwane signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of SUGAR AND SPICE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to LORD CARO (*J Gates) in the concluding stages. Accordingly, a penalty of a suspension for a period of 7 days was imposed (dates to be advised). Shortly after the finish, HARDWIRED (*K Sakayi) and SEEN THE LIGHT (K de Melo) took an awkward stride, respectively. Apprentice K Sakayi signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse HARDWIRED more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice Sakayi, the Board considered the number of times (14) Apprentice Sakayi struck the horse HARDWIRED, the distance over which and manner in which Apprentice Sakayi used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. In view of the performance of VUNDERBAR (9.20 lengths / 15/4 in the betting), Trainer D Campbell was requested to report back on the condition of VUNDERBAR on return to the stables. HARDWIRED (*K Sakayi) the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Eudey acting on behalf of Trainer M Miller was advised. Jockey B Jacobson was the rider of GLORY AND SUNSHINE (reserve runner). Jockey J Samuel was the rider of AFSAN DREAM (reserve runner). A TIME TO REMEMBER raced fitted with steels both fore and unshod behind. GLORY AND SUNSHINE raced fitted with cheek-pieces.
