DRILL SARGEANT and WOODEN STAR were stubborn loading. BADGER'S TRAIL and TIGER PLAY were nervous in the stalls. BISHOPS CHOICE was nervous in the stalls, reared at off, slow away and lost 3 lengths. TAARISH (AUS) and MAGICAL DYNASTY were slow away, lost 3 lengths. Permission was granted for LE CAPITANE to be led to the start with a lead horse. Jockey Fourie reported that WOODEN STAR shortened his stride passing the 300 metre mark. LE CAPITANE became cramped for galloping room for several strides between BOLT OF LIGHT, being carried inwards by DRILL SARGEANT, and WOODEN STAR, who shifted outwards passing the 100 metre mark. TAARISH (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Wiese was questioned regarding the improved performance of this gelding compared to his previous start on 6 March 2015 race reference 360. He explained that this gelding had recently entered his stable and the first two races for him were too short. Today he raced him over the longer distance of 2400 metres which suits TAARISH (AUS). The Board advised Trainer Wiese that he should race this gelding over this or similar distances in future. TAARISH (AUS) raced with tongue ties. Vet: WOODEN STAR - post race distress syndrome.
