HIS APPROVAL, CRIME VICTIM and NIGHT LOCK lost 1 length. DISCOURSE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. PURE VALOR faltered shortly after the start. PURE VALOR ducked in for no apparent reason at approximately the 1600 metre mark, resulting in CRIME VICTIM being forced inwards, which resulted in PRICELESS GEM and HIS APPROVAL striking the inside running rail and becoming severely unbalanced, losing position. This resulted in TRY YOUR LUCK and NIGHT LOCK becoming cramped and having to ease. Due to the performance of FLYING FELLOW, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Jacobson reported that he felt something amiss with PRICELESS GEM and as a result did not persevere with this ride in the straight. FIRST ANSWER was hanging out throughout. Vet: FLYING FELLOW, PRICELESS GEM and FIRST ANSWER - nothing obvious detected. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at tonight's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure. Several Jockeys and Apprentices were selected for the taking of breathalyser tests and urine samples for analysis.
