Fair start. MOUNTAIN RIDGE (G Cheyne) and FESTIVE GIRL (*X Jacobs) brushed shortly after the start. REEF KNOT (S Mbhele), which had failed to secure the run on the outside of APACHE GIRL (*J Solomons), was forced to check off the heels of APACHE GIRL (*J Solomons) which was hanging out and rolled out at the 150m. Apprentice J Solomons was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of APACHE GIRL he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to REEF KNOT leaving the 200m. Apprentice Solomons signed an Admission of Guilt and was given the penalty of a warning. Jockey A Domeyer, the rider of ANMER HALL (AUS), reported that this filly did not act in the soft underfoot conditions. HOPE AND PRAY (J Bekker) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt) MOUNTAIN RIDGE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer D McLachlan was advised. HOPE AND PRAY - bilateral epistaxis.
