OH BOY, DANCINGWITHJACKSON, ALL TOGETHER NOW and ARCTIC KING were slow into stride. NITRO NORI lost one length. OH BOY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. WAY OF LIGHT, hanging in, was steadied off the heels of OH BOY at approximately the 200 metre mark and thereafter became cramped for a number of strides shortly before the finish. DANCINGWITHJACKSON was steadied at approximately the 200 metre mark, off the heels of BUCK SHOT and thereafter was switched in to obtain a clear run. Thereafter DANCINGWITHJACKSON was switched in off the heels of BIZJET approaching the 50 metre mark. In view of the performances of ARCTIC KING and BIG BIRD, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. The buckle of the reins on BIG BIRD came loose at approximately the 250 metre mark resulting in Apprentice Barnes dropping the right side rein, which he only regained at approximately the 50 metre mark. Apprentice Barnes appeared before the Board with regard to this and was strongly advised to immediately regain his reins in such a situation in future. Vet: WAY OF LIGHT - speedy cut left hind. OH BOY - cut into left hind. ARCTIC KING - coughing. BIG BIRD - nothing obvious detected.
