SUN UP (IRE) kicked the back gate in the stalls. SNOROK, SARK and EX NIHILO were nervous in the stalls. SPIN MASTER was nervous and kicked the back gate in stalls. ZALIKA was slow away and lost 1 length. BEETHOVEN raced detached from the filed whilst out-paced early. Thereafter, this gelding produced a powerful finishing burst and finished on the heels of the placed runners. At approximately the 700m, ZALIKA was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed between SNOROK and SPIN MASTER, which rolled out. POMACEOUS was hanging in, in the concluding stages. Jockey Fourie reported that SNOROK was not striding out freely in the running. CHESTNUT WILD switched in to continue his run in the concluding stages. Jockey Bogaleboile signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he stuck the horse CHESTNUT WILD more than12 times in the entire race. A penalty of a fine was imposed. In view of the performance of SUN UP (IRE), the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. The all clear of this race was delayed due to the Stipendiary Board satisfying themselves as to the correctness of the results in relation to the 3rd and 4th placings. In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning POMACEOUS, this gelding was suspended for 120 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. ROCK THE COT and POMACEOUS were selected for the taking of specimens for an analysis. Vet: SUN UP (IRE) - not striding out in front. POMACEOUS - bilateral epistaxis, 120 days suspension. IT'S A GIRL - speedy cut right hind. SNOROK - not striding out right fore. ZALIKA - blood in mouth.
