The start of this Race was delayed due to the close proximity of an electric storm and the subsequent heavy rain that fell. LONDON CALL was difficult to load. Trainer Dixon was advised to re-school this gelding. ETERNAL JET was squeezed out shortly after the start, losing one length. LONDON CALL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Cormack reported that ETERNAL JET faltered on a number of occasions and as a result did not persevere with his ride over the final 300 metres. In view of this the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. WALTZED HOME faltered near the 300 metre mark. Thereafter Jockey Marcus did not fully persevere with his ride. Jockey Kennedy reported that BELLICOSITY faltered on a number of occasions in running. ETERNAL JET raced with a tongue tie. Vet: ETERNAL JET - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: FULLY CHARGED - coughing. FLY AT EM - swollen right fore fetlock. HONOLULU - insufficient recovery time. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure. After the running of this Race, a protest was lodged by the Jockeys regarding the continuation of the race meeting due to the deteriorating underfoot track conditions. A panel was formed and after hearing evidence from the Jockeys' and Trainer's representatives and after inspecting the track, the Panel unanimously decided to abandon the rest of the meeting due to the inconsistency of the racing surface on the straight course, and the fact that the penetrometer readings taken prior to the meeting indicated that the inside track was softer than the outside track, and that it was continuing to rain intermittently.
