WAY OF LIGHT was slow into stride. ARION and WARCRAFT lost 1 length. ULTIMATE DOLLAR, placed second on an Objection, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ST TROPEZ, placed second, declared winner after an Objection, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. RUN SOFTLY compounded in the straight. ULTIMATE DOLLAR shifted out near the 150 metre mark, simultaneously ST TROPEZ shifted in, resulting in these two geldings brushing. Thereafter near the 100 metre mark ULTIMATE DOLLAR shifted out away from the crop making contact with ST TROPEZ resulting in ST TROPEZ becoming unbalanced and being carried outwards. A race review was called by a Stipendiary Steward which was followed by an Objection lodged by a Stipendiary Steward on behalf of the second placed horse, ST TROPEZ, against the winner, ULTIMATE DOLLAR, on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. The Board after viewing the patrol videos from the various angles and hearing all the evidence was of the opinion that but for the interference ST TROPEZ would have beaten ULTIMATE DOLLAR and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the Judge's result. Apprentice Habib, the rider of RUN SOFTLY, had a satisfactory qualifying ride. Vet: RUN SOFTLY - lame right hind. Scratched: OLD MAC DONALD - respiratory infection.
