WATCH THE WINNER, PIOUS RIDE, PASHMINA and ARROW IN FLIGHT were slow into stride. PAR HASARD lost 1 length. PIOUS RIDE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Cunha was questioned regarding the improved performance of PIOUS RIDE the winner compared to this filly's previous run on the 15th March 2015. Mr Cunha explained to the Board that following this filly's improved run in her penultimate start she had disappointed in her previous start on the 15th March 2015. He believed that this filly playing up in the preliminaries on that occasion had probably affected her performance. He was further of the view that the field today was of a weak calibre. His attention has been drawn to the Rules pertaining to "in and out" running. PIOUS RIDE over-raced in the early stages and was hanging in, in the straight. CHASING ANGELS over-raced in the early stages. Apprentice Ngcobo, the rider of EXOTIC DANCER, had a satisfactory qualifying ride. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure. Several Apprentices were selected for the taking of breathalyser tests and urine samples for analysis.
