CHERISH THE MOMENT refused to jump and stood in the stalls. Trainer Kannemeyer will be advised that this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn. The start was reviewed regarding draw 6, CHERISH THE MOMENT, which refused to jump and race with its field, after reviewing the patrol films the Board were satisfied that CHERISH THE MOMENT had not been impeded in any way and declared the gelding to be a runner. In view of the performance from EVENING STORM, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding and submit a report. BORDERED IN GREY had to steady in the concluding stages to avoid the heels of JUDDERING ANGEL, which showed a tendency to shift outwards and then proceeded to shift in away from the crop when just not clear. Jockey Neisius, the rider of JUDDERING ANGEL, appeared before the Board regarding this incident and was advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear before shifting ground in future. Jockey van Niekerk, the rider of EVENING STORM, was charged with a contravention, read with Guideline C, in that he struck the gelding more than three times on consecutive strides at the 200m. Jockey van Niekerk signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. REVVED UP was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: EVENING STORM - returned not striding out behind. REVVED UP - returned cut into on the right hind. Scratched: BIG ED - lung infection.
