The start of this race was delayed due to the bridle on MORPHEUS having to be refitted before this horse could canter to the start. DEPARDIEU lost one length. ROCK ME VAR was hanging out throughout. VICTORY CRUISE was hanging in throughout. Jockey Strydom, the rider of DOING IT FOR DAN, appeared before the board, was shown the patrol film of the race and advised to ride his mounts out to the end of the race. In view of the performance of MOOTAHADEE (AUS), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Mansour reported that NEWTON POWER did not stride out freely in running. MORPHEUS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. DEPARDIEU raced equipped with steels in front and unshod behind. Vet: APPROVAL RATING - abnormal respiratory noise. MOOTAHADEE (AUS) and NEWTON POWER - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. VICTORY CRUISE - coughing.
