ALASCAN MAIDEN and LIFT OFF fractious in the stalls and reared, dislodged the riders, broke through the front gates and bolted back to the parade ring, and were subsequently withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. The other runners were taken out of the starting stalls, causing a delay. Trainers Bass and Snaith will be advised that their respective fillies' starting stall certificates have been withdrawn. PERINI, which was restless in the stalls, jumped awkwardly, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. The start of this race was rescheduled after the favourite ALASCAN MAIDEN was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon to allow the betting public to restructure their bets, and for the railings on the course to be repaired. In view of the performance from MOIKA DANCER, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the mare and submit a report. SURFER GIRL was hanging out in the latter stages. Stable Employee Andrews, acting on behalf of Trainer Snaith, was charged with a contravention, in that he presented the horse LIFT OFF incorrectly equipped with a tongue tie. Mr Andrews signed an Admission of Guilt and was. ASHRAM was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: MOIKA DANCER - returned not striding out. Scratched: PLAY OF LIGHT - lame on the left fore. ALASCAN MAIDEN - bolted, suffered multiple cuts and abrasions, withdrawn. LIFT OFF - bolted, suffered abrasions on right knee, withdrawn.
