The start of this Race was delayed due to a number of horses proving difficult to load and the Veterinary Surgeon having to check BALAU and SPECIAL ENCOUNTER after they were restless in the stalls. RUSTLER refused to load and got loose when being lead back from the stalls and bolted. BALAU was very restless and reared in the stalls, removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and was declared fit to race. Thereafter BALAU stumbled leaving the stalls. SPECIAL ENCOUNTER was restless and reared in the stalls, removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and was declared fit to race. DARK ABBOT jumped awkwardly losing three lengths and thereafter was very slow into stride. Trainer Puller was advised to re-school this gelding. ROY'S REBEL refused to jump and was led out by a Handler. Trainer Bestel was advised to re-school this gelding. VODKA ROCKS lost two lengths. AWESOME NEWS lost two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. SPECIAL ENCOUNTER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. In view of the performances of VODKA ROCKS and AWESOME NEWS, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. Jockey Cele reported that he felt something amiss with BALAU in the latter stages and as a result he did not persevere with his ride. In view of the Starter's report concerning BALAU, this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn until re-passed tractable with a companion. Vet: VODKA ROCKS - not striding out right fore. BALAU - not striding out left fore. AWESOME NEWS - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: ROY'S POWER - elevated temperature. COLD SHOT - Stipes permission. ATSO MAN - abscess right fore. RUSTLER - refused to load and was withdrawn by the Starter. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure.
