The start of this Race was delayed. POWER KING, JAYYED and IT IS WRITTEN were slow into stride. DYNASTIC POWER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. SOLAR STAR struck the inside running rail approaching the 1400 metre mark, shifted out, carrying HELDERBERG BLUE and WHITELINE FEVER outwards. This resulted in JET EXPLORER, PUNTA ARENAS and IT IS WRITTEN and POWER KING becoming inconvenienced for a number of strides. HELDERBERG BLUE became cramped for galloping room approaching the 300 metre mark, between KILLUA CASTLE (AUS) and PUNTA ARENAS. DYNAMIC shifted out slightly approaching the 100 metre mark, making contact with and carrying MOUNTAIN MASTER outwards. POWER KING, hanging out, shifted out approaching the 50 metre mark, resulting in DYNAMIC having to be steadied off the heels of POWER KING. Jockey Byleveld signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention, in that as the rider of POWER KING, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the horse DYNAMIC in the closing stages. He was suspended for a period of 7 days. In view of the performance of JAYYED, the Veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. DE KOCK was eased out over the final 200 metres. In view of this, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Vet: POWER KING - post race distress. JAYYED - abnormal respiratory noise DE KOCK - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: CANDY MOON - injured left fore.
