SOVEREIGN REIGN and FURAAT QUALITY (AUS) were slow into stride. ZAP THE STARS (USA) lost one length. SOLAR TRIPTYCH was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ZAP THE STARS (USA) raced wide on the bend. Jockey Ntuli reported that he felt something amiss with PEARLY KING in running. Trainer Erasmus was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board should he find anything amiss with this gelding on return to stables. Jockey de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with BURRA BOY in the straight. Trainer Dixon was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board should he find anything amiss with this gelding on return to stables. Jockey Delpech reported that he felt something amiss with IN THE TRENCHES and as a result he did not persevere with his ride over the final 300 metres. INDIAN CONNECTION shifted out slightly approaching the 300 metre mark and thereafter was switched out off the heels of BURRA BOY to obtain a clear run resulting in SOVEREIGN REIGN having to be eased. An Inquiry will be held into this incident. Vet: IN THE TRENCHES - nothing obvious detected. INDIAN CONNECTION - coughing Scratched: BURNT ORANGE - elevated temperature.
