SASSY SAL (AUS) was slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. Jockey Andrews was charged with a contravention, read with Guideline 1, in that he accepted to ride the horse MANGO MOON when he was unable to draw the correct carded weight. Jockey Andrews signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. SASSY SAL (AUS) pulled hard and was difficult to restrain in the early stages, raced around the field to the front approaching the 800m, thereafter compounded from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the filly on her return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. Jockey Byleveld appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his riding of SASSY SAL (AUS). He explained that the filly has a tendency to jump slow from the gates as she did today, and he elected to stay at the back of the field despite the filly pulling hard in the early stages. Approaching the 1300m he explained that the pace was very slow and this filly was unable to use her stride at that stage. He elected to shift her to the outside of the field and race forward to the front of the field as she had done on the 4 March 2015, when she won, and was ridden in this manner. He was further of the opinion that she had raced to the front comfortably and he expected her to run on in the straight. She had however tired quickly in the latter stages approaching the 200m. The running and riding of SASSY SAL (AUS) on 4th March 2015 was reviewed and showed that SASSY SAL (AUS) had indeed been slow away, raced around the field to the front, and finished the race off strongly. His explanation was noted and the Board has adjourned to review the matter. DYNASTY'S PRIDE had to ease off the heels of MANGO MOON, which rolled in approaching the 100m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine DYNASTY'S PRIDE on her return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. GOING MY OWN WAY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: SASSY SAL (AUS) and DYNASTY'S PRIDE - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected.
