The start of this Race was delayed due to the delay in the previous Race and TRICKSTER (A Marcus) pulling its left front shoe in the saddling enclosure which had to be attended to by the farrier. ALTOGETHERLOVELY (E Ngwane) and KEEP THE LIGHTS ON (K de Melo) lost one length, respectively. JASMINE (W Kennedy) shifted out to continue its run in the concluding stages. STATE OF MIND (S Moodley) was hanging out from the 300m. Apprentice J Jacobs signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse STELLA ACT more than 12 times in entire race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice J Jacobs the Board considered the number of times (13) Apprentice J Jacobs struck the horse STELLA ACT, the distance over which and manner in which, Apprentice J Jacobs used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. CARALLUMA (B Fayd'Herbe), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S Tarry advised (SC).
