The start of this Race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race. GREATIST HITS and CROKE PARK were slow into stride. HOSTILE TAKEOVER was slow, losing 1 length. IMPERIAL KING was brushed outwards at approximately the 400m by IL PALIO, which was hanging out badly and proved difficult to assist in the concluding stages. Jockey Pretorius, the rider of IMPERIAL KING, placed fifth, lodged an objection against IL PALIO being placed fourth, on the grounds of interference at the 400m. The Objection Board, after giving regard to the evidence put forward by the connections of both horses and reviewing the patrol films of the incident, was of the opinion that IMPERIAL KING would not have finished in front of IL PALIO and therefore overruled the objection and allowed the judge's result to stand. Jockey Pretorius's deposit was refunded. SARTORIUS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: CAPE SISKIN and SARTORIUS - abnormal respiratory noise. IMPERIAL KING - scalped right hind. Scratched: ROMANTIC BALLADEER - no transport.
