IMPERIAL VELVET stood, lost 3 lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. I WILL BE bolted. The start of this race was delayed due to I WILL BE having bolted the course and being withdrawn by the Course Veterinary Surgeon. Permission was granted for NATIONAL ROAD to be led to the start with a lead horse. STARSPANGLEDEMBLEM raced wide on the turn and Jockey Danielson reported this gelding was not striding out freely in the running. LAWS OF SUCCESSION was hanging out on the turn and carried FALLING SKY wide into the home straight. FALLING SKY was hanging in over the final 400 metres. Apprentice Ramsamy reported that TIGRESS POEM was not striding out freely in the running. Jockey Ndlovu signed and Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention, read with Guideline C on the use of the crop, in that he struck the horse WELL INFORMED more than three times on consecutive strides. He was fined R500. IMPERIAL VELVET was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Khathi signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention in that he as the rider of CHILL FACTOR, he weighed in more than 1kg above the carded weight. Vet: STARSPANGLEDEMBLEM - checked post race, nothing obvious detected. NATIONAL ROAD and WELL INFORMED - speedy cut left hind fetlock. KENT ROCK - coughed post race. TIGRESS POEM - short in front. Scratched: DIESEL ENGINE - short left hind. SEATTLE JOE - eliminated. TURNSTONE and PAY AS YOU GO - change of surface. I WILL BE - bolted and was withdrawn by the Course Veterinary Surgeon. The Course Farrier on duty reported that the shoes of all the runners engaged at today's race meeting were checked and confirmed with the rules. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
