During the loading process the front gates opened for no apparent reason. All runners were immediately restrained by their respective riders, with the exception of VICTORIA PARK, which bolted the course and was subsequently withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. The stalls were rechecked and the runners reloaded, causing a delay to the start of this race. Jockey Pretorius reported that he felt something amiss with FANTASY HOSTESS in running. In view of the performance from CELINE, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer Goosen was requested to report back on the condition of CELINE on return to the stables. Apprentice Marwing reported that STEP IT UP made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. STEP IT UP was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ALBERTS GEM, FANTASY HOSTESS and CELINE - examined post race, no significant findings. STEP IT UP - no respiratory noise detected post race. Scratched: VICTORIA PARK - bolted. TO BE BRAVE - lame left front.
