Fair start for all runners. Jockey K de Melo the rider of SILVA MAGIC appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol films, and advised against the practice of using the crop down the shoulder of the horse whilst in the drawn position. Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse ZAGARA more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Moodley, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey Moodley struck the horse ZAGARA, the distance over which and manner in which Jockey S Moodley used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. SILVA MAGIC (K de Melo) was baulked for a clear run between the 400m and the 300m. Apprentice K Sakayi reported that he felt something amiss with WHATABEAUTY in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. In view of the performance of JOY MAISHA (ARG) (C Zackey) (12.70 lengths / 9/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. CHATTY CATHY (*J Gates) the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J Guthrie advised (ML). Jockey C Murray replaced Jockey B Fayd'herbe on ISLA MORADA (advised 16h35/30.06.2020). Jockey S Veale replaced Jockey S Randolph on CLASSIC GUARD. VET : JOY MAISHA (ARG) : Not striding out left hind. WHATABEAUTY : Not striding out right front. SCRATCHINGS : TWICE TO SYDNEY : Reserve runner.
