UNCLE JIM fractured left shoulder, withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon, causing a delay of the start. As a result the start of this race was delayed by 5 minutes to allow the patrons to restructure their bets. The start was further delayed to allow the Veterinary Surgeon to attend to UNCLE JIM at the start. BLACKMORE jumped awkwardly was slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. WAITING FOR RAIN reared in the stalls shortly before the start. MOONLIGHT RUNNER squeezed out shortly after the start. SHISHANGENI raced wide on the bend and into the straight, compounded in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding on his return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. Jockey Wright reported that he felt something amiss with CHESTER'S WISH in the straight. MOONLIGHT RUNNER was squeezed out shortly after the start. BLACKMORE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: UNCLE JIM - injured at the start, fractured left shoulder. Euthanased. SHISHANGENI - returned making an abnormal respiratory noise. PLAYINGTHEENEMY (AUS) - returned making an abnormal respiratory noise. CHESTER'S WISH - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. Scratched: HALF MOON HOTEL and EXELERO - respiratory virus. UNCLE JIM - fractured right shoulder.
