SOVEREIGN SPEECH was slow into stride. The start of this race was delayed at the request of the Phumelela representative due to the race clashing with Kranji (Singapore). GAUTENG (ARG) was hanging inwards over the final 400 metres and brushed ARS POETICA passing the 300 metre mark. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine GAUTENG (ARG) due to her poor performance and Trainer Laing was requested to report anything untoward with her on return to the stables. Jockey Yeni reported that HUNTING EAGLE was changing stride in the running. SOVEREIGN SPEECH was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee Smith was questioned regarding the improved performance of this filly compared to her previous race on the 29th of May 2015. He stated that this filly has been well and preferred the longer distance. The Board noted this explanation. Vet: GAUTENG (ARG) - checked post race, nothing obvious detected. HUNTING EAGLE - blowing.
