MAJMU (AUS), FRENCH NAVY, HALVE THE DEFICIT and THE CONGLOMERATE (AUS) were slow into stride. POWER KING, PUNTA ARENAS and TELLINA were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. DYNASTIC POWER, over-racing, clipped the heels of DEPUTY JUD near the 1900 metre mark and stumbled. THE CONGLOMERATE (AUS) became baulked for a number of strides early in the final straight and thereafter was switched in to obtain a clear run. GOLD ONYX (NZ) became baulked for a number of strides approaching the 300 metre mark. PINE PRINCESS and TAMAANEE (AUS) became cramped and were eased approaching the 250 metre mark. POWER KING shifted out approaching the 200 metre mark carrying LEGAL EAGLE outwards, which resulted in GOLD ONYX (NZ) becoming cramped and forced to check and HALVE THE DEFICIT becoming cramped for galloping room for a number of strides on the inside of PUNTA ARENAS, which shifted in slightly. HOT TICKET became cramped on the inside of PUNTA ARENAS near the 250 metre mark. THE CONGLOMERATE (AUS) shifted in approaching the 100 metre mark inconveniencing DYNASTIC POWER. PUNTA ARENAS, hanging in, shifted in near the 100 metre mark, resulting in POWER KING and PUNTA ARENAS brushing. Thereafter PUNTA ARENAS shifted in slightly bumping POWER KING, which resulted in POWER KING being turned outwards and both POWER KING and PUNTA ARENAS becoming unbalanced. An objection was lodged by Jockey Sturgeon, the rider of the second placed horse, PUNTA ARENAS, against the winner, POWER KING, on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. After considering the evidence and the patrol video, the Board overruled the objection and allowed the Judge's result to stand. Jockey Sturgeon's deposit was refunded. In view of the performances WYLIE HALL (AUS), DEPUTY JUD and TAMAANEE (AUS), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. HALVE THE DEFICIT returned post race having cast the right fore shoe. THE CONGLOMERATE (AUS) returned post race having cast the left fore shoe. Jockey Geroudis, the rider of TELLINA weighed in, in excess of 1kg. The matter was adjourned for further investigation. Jockey Randolph signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention in that, as the rider of POWER KING, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the horses LEGAL EAGLE, GOLD ONYX (NZ) and HALVE THE DEFICIT at the 200 metre mark. He was suspended for a period of 14 days. HELDERBERG BLUE raced with cheek pieces. Vet: WYLIE HALL (AUS) - not striding out left hind. DEPUTY JUD and TAMAANEE (AUS) - nothing obvious detected.
