LIQUIFICATION broke the front gates open resulting in this gelding jumping ahead of the field. Trainer Visser was advised to re-school this gelding prior to its next engagement. SEVENTH JOY was slow, losing one length. The Stipendiary Stewards in consultation with the Starter reviewed the start of this race regarding LIQUIFICATION in stall gate 11 and established that this gelding was restless and had broken open the front gates prior to the start being effected and had jumped ahead of the field. The Stewards declared LIQUIFICATION to be a non-runner. Jockey Yeni did not persevere with his ride after this incident. Jockey Lerena, the rider of GATTO NERO, and Jockey Khumalo, the rider of CAPE GREY, reported that their mounts made severe abnormal respiratory noises in running. Apprentice Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with LETS PARTY in running. Apprentice Marwing reported that JUST LIKE HONEY took no interest in running. GO RICHIE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: LETS PARTY - not striding out right front. CAPE GREY - abnormal respiratory noise. GATTO NERO - examined post race, no significant findings. JUST LIKE HONEY - not striding out left front. Scratched: TEASE THE WIND - no transport available. MFUYI - ventral neck swelling. LIQUIFICATION - declared a non-runner.
