GUANTANAMERA cast left fore shoe en route to the start which was replaced by the Course Farrier. Thereafter GUANTANAMERA was slow away and lost 2 lengths. BLACKMALKIN was nervous in the stalls. ESS EL KAY was nervous in the stalls, reared, flyjumped, slow away and lost 2 lengths. ICEFIRE jumped awkwardly outwards. ICEFIRE jumped awkwardly outwards and hit his head on the stalls gate. Apprentice Gumede reported that ICEFIRE was not striding out freely in the running. Jockey Dillon reported he felt something amiss with BLACKMALKIN in the running. THE WEST IS WIDE was hanging inwards over the final 200 metres. Apprentice Ramsamy reported that GUANTANAMERA made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. SWIFT WONDER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Bremner was questioned regarding the improved performance of this gelding compared to his start on 22nd May 2015. Ms Bremner explained that SWIFT WONDER is better suited to the 1000 metres and the fast pace in this race. The Board noted this explanation. GUANTANAMERA raced with a tongue tie. Vet: BLACKMALKIN and SEDGE - checked post race, nothing obvious detected. ICEFIRE - not striding out behind. GUANTANAMERA - abnormal respiratory noise.
