PURE POWER jumped awkwardly, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. PERINI was slow into stride. Apprentice Carstens reported that he felt something amiss with HOT AFFAIR in running. Trainer Robinson was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on this filly's condition on her return to the stables. Jockey Cheyne reported that THE WHICH DOCTOR did not stride out freely in running. LANNER FALCON shifted outwards approaching the 300m and carried PURE POWER outwards, which in turn made contact with JET SUPREME at the 200m. A Member of the Stipendiary Board called for a race review regarding this incident and after reviewing all the relevant patrol films from the various angles, in the presence of Jockey Fortune, the rider of JET SUPREME, decided to take no further action. Jockey van Niekerk, the rider of LANNER FALCON, appeared before the Board regarding this incident and he was advised to take stronger measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in future. LANNER FALCON was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: HOT AFFAIR and THE WHICH DOCTOR - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected.
