ROY'S DREAM and LUCKY SHOT lost one length. SIR EARL GREY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ROY'S REBEL was pulling hard in the early stages and difficult to restrain. At approximately the 1000 metre mark the nose band on ROY'S REBEL became detached and flapped loosely on the left hand side of this gelding's head. Jockey Delpech, the rider of COLONEL BLING, and Jockey Jacobson, the rider of GOLD SAIL, reported that their respective mounts were not striding out freely in running. WINTER AXE was hanging out over the final 400 metres. SIR EARL GREY was hanging out over the final 100 metres. GOLD SAIL raced with cheek pieces. The Ownership of LUCKY SHOT should read: Messrs M Govender & D W Moore; and the Colours are: white, black star, white sleeves, blacks stars, black cap, white star. The Medical Officer reported that Jockey Marcus stood down after the running of this Race due to a chest infection. Unfit to continue riding. Vet: COLONEL BLING and GOLD SAIL - nothing obvious detected. SPIRIT OF DOVER - abnormal respiratory noise.
