Jockey D L Habib signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse CAIRON more than twelve times in the entire race. The Board imposed a penalty of a fine of R1000. When assessing the penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey Habib struck the horse CAIRON and his poor recent regard in relation to this Rule. Accordingly a penalty of R1000 was imposed. KINGSLEY'S HEART (M van Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W H Marwing advised (GF). When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which may have accounted for the improved performance of KINGSLEY'S HEART, Trainer Marwing explained to the Board that this colt had been very inexperienced during his races in February and March, however in the interim, he had been rested and had matured during this time. Trainer Marwing was also of the opinion that the additional distance of today's race had also contributed towards the improvement. He has undertaken to race this colt over similar distances in future. SITTING BULL was ridden by Apprentice K Matsunyane (declared 3 July 2020 at 16H00). SITTING BULL raced with ear muffs on (declared 4 July 2020 at 14H01). VET: EXPRESSION SESSION brush wound right hind. MASTER MARINER mouth injury.
