FLYING ICE, FORT EMBER, OLD EM and QUEEN OF CREDIT were slow into stride. LAUDERDALE and MELLIFLORA were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. FORT EMBER became momentarily inconvenienced on the outside of LAUDERDALE approaching the 300 metre mark. Thereafter FORT EMBER was hanging in. LAUDERDALE shifted in away from the crop shortly before the finish, resulting in PERSIAN RUG having to shift inwards. As a result CHESTNUTS N PEARLS and FLYING ICE were carried in, became cramped and made contact, causing FLYING ICE to clip the heels of MELLIFLORA and stumble badly just after the finish. An Inquiry will be held into this incident. PERSIAN RUG, when on the lead, hesitated and ducked out and lost momentum as a result of a shadow near the 150 metre mark. Jockey Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with MELLA MARIA (AUS) in running. Apprentice Zackey reported that OLD EM was not striding out freely in running. Jockey Marcus reported that BIG SUGAR (AUS) took no interest in running and as a result he did not persevere with his ride in the latter stages. Due to the performance of LA STRADA, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Jockey Strydom, the rider of FORT EMBER, appeared before the Board with regard to his ride in the straight. He explained that this filly was racing green, hanging in and was racing with an awkward head carriage. This made it difficult for him to fully assist this filly. The Board noted Mr Strydom's explanation. Jockey Dillon, the rider of MELLIFLORA, accidentally dropped his crop shortly before the finish. CHESTNUTS N PEARLS was sold with engagement and the Ownership is: Messrs Mayesh Chetty, M A Currie, Drakenstein Stud (Nom : Mrs G A Rupert) & Vendel Civils (Pty) Ltd; and the Colours are: Blue, white square, blue sleeves and cap (change of ownership registered 28.7.2015). Vet: BIG SUGAR (AUS), OLD EM, MELLA MARIA (AUS) and LA STRADA - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: FROSTED HONEY - insufficient recovery time.
