The start of this race was delayed due to the 30-minute interval between races and FLAMING SPIRIT having to be re-saddled at the start. KUNUNATA was stubborn loading and lost 1 length. GYPSY'S INN lost 1 length. WOODY GLOW cast its right front shoe. PICARDI PINK was hanging in badly from the 500m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer Janse van Vuuren was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board should he find anything untoward with PICARDI PINK on return to the stables. GOLDEN MAN was carried out marginally in the concluding stages by GENTLEMAN ONLY, which shifted out away from the crop and was immediately straightened. A member of the Stipendiary Board called a race review into this incident and after viewing the patrol films of the race, in the company of Trainer Maroun and Jockey Strydom, the rider of GOLDEN MAN, decided to take no further action. GENTLEMAN ONLY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ARTFUL EMPEROR raced without a tongue tie. ARTFUL EMPEROR raced in Club colours. Vet: GOLDEN MAN - scalped right hind. PICARDI PINK - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: MASTER DUKE - no Authority to Act. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
