HARRY LIME and POWER TO PLEASE were slow losing one length. In view of the performance from HARRY LIME, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the colt and submit a report. Trainer Snaith was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the colt's condition on its return to the stables. VINCENTE steadied off the heels of CAPTAIN BAGG, which was hanging out and shifted out at the 100m. Apprentice May, the rider of PERPETUA, feeling something amiss approaching the 300m, eased the filly out of the race, and was dislodged when she collapsed at the 200m. CAPTAIN BAGG was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. POWER TO PLEASE raced fitted with alumites in front and unshod behind. Vet: PERPETUA - suffered a bleed and died at about the 200m. A blood sample was taken for analysis. HARRY LIME - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. Scratched: SEVEN WOOD - injured in transit.
