There was a delay to the start of the 2nd Race as a result of the farrier having to replace the right fore shoe on CRONOLOGICAL at the start. CLASSY CHIC was slow into stride. EXHALTED lost 2 lengths. GRACIOUS GRACE jumped awkwardly losing 2 lengths. ROYAL QUEST was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Naidoo was questioned regarding the improved performance of ROYAL QUEST. He explained that this mare in her previous two starts had been fitted with blinkers and that she had raced from the front and had compounded. For today's race he had removed the blinkers and raced ROYAL QUEST with cover just off the pace in the early stages and this, in his opinion, had accounted for the improvement. Mr Naidoo's attention has been drawn to the Rules pertaining to "in and out running" and he was instructed to race this mare equipped in a similar manner in future. GRACIOUS GRACE raced wide throughout. Jockey de Melo reported that WESTERLY WIND was not striding out freely in the latter stages. Vet: WESTERLY WIND - fatigued. MANYOU - speedy cut left fore. Scratched: LEAH - virus. MAMDOOHA (AUS) - lame left fore.
