SPRITZER lost 1 length. EXIT HERE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Fortune reported that he felt something amiss with BELUGA BERRY in running. Due to the performance of SPRITZER, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. OPEN HEIR shifted in shortly after the start making contact with ENTREE. Trainer Puller and Jockey Sturgeon appeared before the Board with regard to the running and riding of TRANSLUNAR in this race. Both explained that the intention was to race this gelding from the front or from a handy position from the wide draw, depending on the pace in the race. Jockey Sturgeon explained that as a result of encouraging this gelding shortly after the start, he had over-raced in the early stages and thereafter had begun to tire in the straight, and then received interference. Thereafter this gelding compounded. Both parties agreed that TRANSLUNAR would most likely be raced with cover in his future engagements, or if he was to be raced from the front would do so without being ridden to obtain that position. The Board noted these explanations. ROYAL UNION JET shifted out slightly at approximately the 150 metre mark, simultaneously TRANSLUNAR shifted in slightly, resulting in these two horses bumping and becoming unbalanced. Vet: BELUGA BERRY and SPRITZER - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: VARIETY ROMP - not eating up.
