VALENCIA (M Yeni) was stubborn to load. CIRO (*J Gates) and SHAVOUT (G Lerena) lost one length, respectively. APIS CERANA (S Moodley) was difficult to load. Trainer M Roberts was advised to re-school this gelding. At the 250m, VALENCIA (M Yeni) which was hanging in from the 400m, was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the heels of MASANGO MACHINE (A Marcus) which had come to the end of its run. SHAVOUT (G Lerena) shifted in sharply at the 150m. CIRO (*J Gates) took an awkward stride and shifted in sharply at the 250m. Apprentice J Jacobs (PLEDGE OF HONOUR) reported that the saddle slipped backwards in the running. This was confirmed by the Stipendiary Stewards. At the 400m, CIRO (*J Gates) and SHAVOUT (G Lerena) which raced greenly in the running, came together and bumped. Jockey A Marcus reported that MASANGO MACHINE (14.25 lengths, 77/20 in the betting) did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer A Wright was advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. SUPER AGRA (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl advised (DA). CIRO raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 08.07.2020/07h35). OLYMPIC LEGEND was ridden by Jockey S Veale. Reserve runner (advised 07.07.2020/12h09).
