The start of this Race was delayed due to the delay from the previous Race and the Starter's rostrum arriving late at the start. MELANCHETE was restless in the stalls and thereafter flyjumped badly leaving the stalls, dislodging Jockey Forbes. Trainer Forbes was advised to re-school this mare. ALDRIC lost one length. THUNDER RUN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Apprentice Bantam, the rider of ALDRIC, and Apprentice Mjoka, the rider of STAMPEDE, had satisfactory qualifying rides. The start was reviewed with regard to MELANCHETE. The Board, after viewing the patrol video, was satisfied that this mare was not impeded by a handler or faulty mechanism and flyjumped after the start had been effected. Therefore MELANCHETE was declared a runner. Jockey de Melo reported that MR PRESIDENT was not striding out freely in running. KINGS GOLD was hanging in at approximately the 200 metre mark, shifted in resulting in ALDRIC having to be eased and switched out off the heels of KINGS GOLD to obtain clear run. Apprentice Godden signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention in that as the rider of KINGS GOLD, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the horse ALDRIC at approximately the 200 metre mark. He was suspended for a period of 7 days. SLEWSGATE returned post race having cast the left fore shoe. THUNDER RUN raced without a tongue tie. Vet: MR PRESIDENT - not striding out left hind. STAMPEDE - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: FAT CHANCE - lame left hind. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations were confirmed.
